General Medical problems commonly treated by Podiatrists
Ingrown Toenails can be incredibly painful and can be attributed to a number of causes. In many cases these can be treated simply, however in more serious cases, they may require nail surgery.
Heel Pain is a common foot complaint. Complications include plantar fasciitis and heel spurs. Sever's disease is a common cause of heel pain in children. A podiatrist can help diagnose and treat heel pain.
Plantar Warts are caused by a virus called the Human Papiloma Virus. Because children's immune systems are young and developing they are often more susceptible to the virus. If over the counter treatments are not getting rid of the wart, your podiatrist can offer stronger faster treatment options.
Tinea (aka: Athletes’ Foot) Fungus exists normally as part of our normal skin make up. When it over grows it causes a condition on your feet called tinea or athletes foot. Fungus loves a warm, moist, dark environment to grow in so the area in between the toes, enclosed in shoes and socks is an ideal environment for fungal growth. For more info click here
