Cracked Heels Treatments

Helping you to achieve baby smooth heels
At Podantics Podiatry, we offer the following treatments for cracked heels:
  • Removal of the dry, cracked skin with specialist instruments
  • Prescribe appropriate emollients to improve skin suppleness and elasticity
  • Management plan including home care as well as follow-up treatments
  • Offer advice on prevention

As podiatrists, we have the ability to gently remove the dead and dry skin from your heels leaving them smooth again. By carefully pairing the layers skin and following with a machine that gently buffs the dead skin off, we can bring your heels back to their former glory and have you sandal ready in no time. Most people love the experience of getting their callus removed as a bit of pampering and love the way their feet look after. Where larger cracks are present we may also be able dress these areas if needed or tape the cracks together until they heal as well as offer some advice and check to see if there isn't any underlying cause to cracking.

Removing Cracked Dry Skin

The podiatrists at Podantics Podiatry have been trained extensively in the treatment of cracked heels. By gently removing the skin and then filing the heels, we are able to remove a greater amount of callus more gently than can be achieved at home.
If the cracks are deep then the cracks may need to strapped together or an antiseptic liquid applied.

Regular care

Removing the hard thick skin by debriding it allows the skin to heal. This may need to be done on a regular basis. Regular maintenance, together with shoe wear, and moisturising treatments may be the best way to prevent cracked heels.

Moisturising Treatments

As part of your treatment your podiatrist may apply a special moisturising treatment which is complimentary for all people with cracked heels. Your Podiatrist may also recommend or prescribe a moisturiser or emollient to be used on a daily basis depending on the level of dryness and condition of you heels .

Prevention

At Podantics Podiatry, we can provide you with a written management plan which may include at home care, follow-up treatments and advice on preventing cracked heels.
